Conference themes are pointless. Has anyone ever actually adjusted one's presentation to fit the theme?

My *only* thought is if they provide any clarity on what fields are welcome, but I would hazard if that has any impact.

I know we talk a lot about our students using AI, but as an Editor, can we start talking about academics using AI? It's getting really bad. One paper I just rejected had about 8 "not X, but also Y" in a two-page section on its own, nevermind the bolds, the lists, etc.

Academia -- we doing ok? Gotten two angry replies from rejection decisions lately, even at my best of consoling and being supportive of the future of the work. I know we're all tired of the publication process - but let's remember we're in this together.

Nothing beats 1:1 organizing meetings in the morning.
