We can clearly see areas of dense fog and low clouds that have developed overnight in the interior valleys. Areas above the inversion layer are seeing blue skies and sunshine to start off the day.

The latest northeast Pacific Ocean airmass satellite imagery provides a great look at the broad area of low pressure in the Gulf of Alaska. That band of moisture extends hundreds of miles to the west, but is being forced northward by the jet stream and building ridge over our region.

The Mt. Ashland and Trip Check Diamond Lake junction webcams are showing accumulating snowfall this morning. It is on the lighter side, but hopefully a sign of more to come heading into next week.

Here are the latest rainfall and snowfall accumulation estimates with the next front set to arrive later today and extend into Thursday. This is from the NWS in Medford. We should see most of the rain and snowfall come to an end by late Thursday morning.

Here is the latest 8-14 day hazards guidance from the Climate Prediction Center at NOAA from Thanksgiving into the first few days of December. Models indicate colder than normal temperatures with above normal precipitation. This could result in moderate to heavy snowfall for Cascades and Siskiyous.

Fog and low clouds have helped to keep Medford well above freezing. Areas that saw clearing overnight have allowed temperatures to dip near to well below freezing. Areas east of the Cascades are in the upper teens to low/mid 20’s.

Satellite imagery this morning shows a pretty extensive amount of fog and low clouds across the region. Areas that experienced clear skies overnight likely dropped near to below freezing. Watch for slick areas on road surfaces as well as reduced visibility.

The fog and low clouds didn’t really dissipate across the western interior valleys. Visible satellite this evening shows this very well. We also have a band of higher level clouds shifting east of the Cascades.

Here are the latest accumulated precipitation estimates between the GFS and European weather models. Not seeing a significant amount of moisture with the system set to arrive late tomorrow into Thursday. The estimates are through Monday the 24th.
