Also it reprised a lot of the faults of the og anime. Vash is even more of a passive stupid blob of a character, he's just less annoying. Manga vash spent his entire life hunting down knives, stampede vash is fully aware he's off killing people but just fucking sits there sadly i guess.

It cut out the heart of Trigun and replaced it with cliches.

I’ve genuinely never despised a piece of fiction more in my life. Which is extremely ironic bc the ONLY reason I ever read the manga was because I saw the trailers for stampede and was intrigued bc I thought Vash looked cute.

Stampede is if someone put the entire story of Trigun into a blender and then regurgitated a TikTok highlight reel of the most emotionally impactful interesting moments devoid of the things that made them emotionally impactful and interesting.

Og anime was working with, I kid you not, about a third of the story. Within those limitations, aside from making Vash a lobotomized sex pest, I think it did a surprisingly good job and improved on things in some areas, actually. Wolfwood was done very well, and so were the insurance girls.

I was forced to watch part of it bc it was turned on in my vicinity and never in my life has the word 'fake' felt more bizzarely applicable to a fictional project.

Insects are sick and the tendency for concept artists in particular to reduce their limb anatomy to ‘pointy’ is sickening 😔
