🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month from all of us at MindWise! 🧠💜

How much would it cost to end poverty tomorrow?

There is more of a cost in NOT tackling poverty.

Childrens mental health week 3rd - 9th Febrary 2025. Know Yourself, Grow Yourself.

CAMHS Waiting List
2,251 children and young people were waiting for a CAMHS assessment as of June 2023. Of these, 1,205 had been waiting for more than nine weeks.

The Northern Trust has the highest number of young people waiting for a CAMHS assessment, with 888 waiting as of June 2023. This disparity is stark in comparison to the Western HSC Trust, which had the lowest number waiting at 333.

The Case for early intervention.
In Northern Ireland, less than 8% of the overall budget for mental health provision is allocated to children and young people’s mental health services, resulting in limited access to essential mental health support for our children and young people.
We at MindWise know the value of early intervention, with evaulations demonstrating that primary school counselling services across the UK generate up to £36 million in long-term benefits each year at a cost of £4.5 million.

The ongoing failure to implement an anti-poverty strategy in Northern Ireland is deeply concerning. We urge the government to act swiftly and prioritise the well-being of all citizens.

Mental health and employment: Can the Government forge progress on both fronts? - Mental Health UK How do we make mental health and employment two sides of the same coin, rather than separate or even competing priorities? We were honoured to host a thought-provoking roundtable in Parliament, exploring the critical conversation about mental health and employment.

Our CEO, Brian Dow, hosted the discussion and wrote a blog outlining the key takeaways from the day.
