By coincidence, alongside thinking about and teaching Publishing Then and Now, I have been reading Elif Shafak's latest novel - a Big Book in all senses, expansive and important (and long!) and among many other things a beautiful story of how the written word has evolved through the ages

Also it sets findings in context of decline of creative education in state schools

Yes, the report is about who gets on creative degrees specifically (and particularly in the most prestigious institutions) and the role this plays in the creative industries' diversity problem, but this reflects trends across university education more generally
