Simple argument here: if this was happening you'd be able to point to a company that was actually doing it. You'd be able to point to the jobs and the ways in which they'd replaced them with AI and the ceo would talk about it openly. Is that really too much to ask? Yes. The answer is yes

1) The paddles make a rather loud "Thud" when hit. Like, it is very obvious when inside a vehicle that hits them that you've hit them
2) It'sin a populated area, it's not out in the middle of nowhere

These gantries were set up in front of the Montague St Bridge here in Melbourne, Australia. It's a 3M (9'10") rail bridge just south of Melbourne CBD. Its notorious for trapping/destroying rental vans, and buses with drivers unfamiliar with the area. It didn't stop collisions, but it did slow them
