Royal Institute of Philosophy Public Talk - Lancaster Dr Hane Maung Polymath from Lancaster: The Life and Philosophy of William Whewell Wed 19th Nov, 7-8pm. Free and open to all. No need to book, just turn up. Lecture Theatre, The Storey Institute, Lancaster. This lecture provides a general introduction to William Whewell, focusing on three main areas: (1) his early life and education in Lancaster; (2) his philosophy of science, including his debate with John Stuart Mill about the nature of induction; and (3) his impact on philosophical and scientific development.

I feel compelled to tell an even worse story. I was in a pub toilet and an impeccably-dressed man used the urinal next to me. I noticed a puddle form under him ... he was so plastered that he thought he'd taken out his penis but had actually taken out a testicle and was peeing down his trouser leg.

once I saw a guy who pushed down the tap, briefly ran his hand underneath it, *missed the water*, and then just left ... as if the symbolic gesture of going through the motion was enough
