03.09.2025 00:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I really hope you enjoy using the geoCML Platform. I am incredibly proud to be able to bring enterprise GIS out of the proprietary software paradigm and into the hands of users around the world, free of charge.
02.09.2025 20:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There's so much happening over here at The geoCML Project... so much, in fact, that I am not able to talk about everything in this post. I encourage you to check out our documentation site for a more comprehensive look at the geoCML Platform's capabilities: geocml.github.io/docs/
02.09.2025 20:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Not only is geoCML v4.0 out today, but Tabor v4.0 is also available to the public! This Tabor update includes support for temporal data types as well as domain values (i.e. coded value domains in ArcGIS).
02.09.2025 20:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0With geoCML v4.0, it's never been easier to boot up a geoCML instance. We have implemented an install script that can be downloaded an run with a single command. With this script, you can deploy a geoCML instance in minutes. We have also updated our hosted containers so they are production ready!
02.09.2025 20:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Let's start with geoCML v4.0. This is the biggest release of geoCML ever. It features several UI changes, quality of life updates, quantitative dashboards on geoCML Server Portal, and support for rasters/custom fonts/QGIS plugins.
You can read the full change log here: github.com/geoCML/geocm...
Hello Bluesky--I am alive! It's been a minute since I've posted here, so I thought I'd take a moment to catch you all up on the geoCML Platform. I've got a ton of updates that I am excited to share with you all. π

I want to dynamically render and cache tiles generated from a PostGIS database. ST_AsMVT seems to be the most common approach, but ideally like my tiles to be rasters. I have a Rust backend that is doing the serverside logic, so I may be able to convert the vector data to an image that way.
10.04.2025 17:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Just to clarify: I am not trying to make an OSM tile server.
10.04.2025 14:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Good morning #GISChat! Does anyone out there have any good resources on the topic of tile servers? I've been working on my own for geoCML, but I'm running into a few issues.
10.04.2025 14:20 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Get up in the morning and pre-render your tile server cache, call it wake and bake.
07.04.2025 17:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This trend is disturbing; Weβre consuming AI generated content and then relying on AI to explain (poorly) what the content is about. Critical thinking has been going the way of the dodo for yearsβ¦ but this is a very rapid escalation.
It should alarm every single one of you.

Every once in a while, I decide to go on X as a form of self harm. Over the last few months, the amount of AI generated slop has FLOODED the feed. People donβt understand it, so they go in the comments and @ grok and perplexity to explain the content.

03.04.2025 17:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm with you hereβI have bad eye health and light mode tends to be more legible to me. That said, I get eye strain if I use it for too long.
27.03.2025 18:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0#GISChat Do you use light-mode or dark-mode when you're working on your desktop GIS?

26.03.2025 14:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There's been such a flood of headlines over the last month that I totally missed that FiveThirtyEight was shuttered, and their staff laid off earlier this month. I was always a huge fan of their datasets... What a loss ):

24.03.2025 15:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not sure what Tabor is?
Tabor is a command line utility that allows you to define and create PostGIS database schemas from an easy to read, maintainable YAML file.
The Tabor v0.3.1 patch release is out now! If you're running geoCML v0.3.1, you'll automatically get the update after redeploying the geoCML Task Scheduler container.
For those using indev geoCML v4.0, pull from main or update the gTS make file to point to Tabor v0.3.1. Redeploy, and you're set!
In other news! I found a critical bug in Tabor v0.3.0 today and I'm going to be prioritizing a patch release for that. Should be finished shortly.
23.03.2025 16:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sorry you haven't heard much from me recently; I'm still hard at work on geoCML v4.0. This is shaping up to be the most consequential geoCML update yet, and I think you're really going to like it when it's all finished. I'll probably write a post teasing some release changes soon (:
23.03.2025 16:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If you just need a simple world map, you can type βworldβ into the coordinates text box. Quick and easy, no plugins required (:
19.03.2025 01:21 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Tomorrow night is Show & Tell at the PDX OSGEO meetup! Portland GIS folks, come out, have a slice of pizza, and learn about the cool geospatial projects the community is working on... or share your own! #gischat

I am aggressive with the mute feature too, but Iβve noticed that it doesnβt apply to text in images/alt text correctly. I still see memes all the time on my feed containing terms that Iβve blocked ):
01.03.2025 21:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Gonna check out the PDX OSGEO meetup tonight; if youβre also a GIS nerd in Portland, Iβll hope to see you there!
