I agree, and that's a more realistic possibility.

I'd love to see California divided into 60 states, each one with a larger population than Wisconsin. Then it would have 120 senators all by itself. But of course it's not going to happen.

If I recall correctly, the Mars stat is mostly because the Russians were really bad at sending missions to Mars.

The one that blows me away is the NOAA Satellite Operations Facility (NSOF). It's an 18-year-old building that houses the control centers for all US civilian weather satellites - a vast amount of sophisticated equipment. What is the alternative?

They can't sell it because it doesn't exist yet. But I doubt at this point that it's going to happen. (I live in Greenbelt.)

Yes, they're firing the probationaries for just one reason: because they can. It makes absolutely no practical sense, and it means you're eliminating your youngest and most enthusiastic employees.

I'm always impressed by the book reviews that are 90% what the reviewer thinks about the topic.

Loved this thread by @spacemarschall.bsky.social showing the location of the Apollo 11 lunar module. Wanted to find the same spot in Lunar Orbiter photographs, for a before/after. Here's the same location as viewed from Lunar Orbiter V on August 12, 1967.
