The church’s active and repeated covering up of abuse and attempts to pay off, shame, and silence victims were the final nails in the coffin of my testimony. That was a solid line in the sand for me. They care more about their reputation than the harm caused by these men. By their fruits.

Elder Christofferson’s son and his family (including small children) lived in our ward until very recently. Elder Christofferson was at the trunk or treat our first year here. Now I have serious ick wondering what he knew about his brother and whether those poor little kids were ever alone with him.

23 years ago these babies who thought they knew everything married each other. Now, 6 moves, 7 college degrees, one baby and two dogs later, they finally know enough to know how very little they know. Happy anniversary to my Lobster. Thanks for unlearning all the things we thought we knew with me.

Also, we aren’t “poor people,” but now my money will be going to help them instead. Big mistake. Huge.

She had to wait over an hour past her appt time and found out later it was for me. She said she was so grateful that she had been kind as I was literally almost dying on the emergency room table. We just don’t ever know what’s going on behind the scenes and kind should be our default.

I told her that we were a med family and we get it. She took a deep breath and sounded so relieved. I always think about how a friend of mine was sitting in the waiting room for an appt at our OB/GYN the day that I had my emergency c-section.

Fellow med wife 😉 here. Yup to all of this. There’s nothing like a spouse’s work dinner to make you feel like crap. I used to avoid them like the plague, but now I go just so that hubs and I can have people to roast together when we get home. 😆 (Plus they usually have good liquor, so…)

Someone else is having a much worse day than we are, why on earth would we add to it by getting angry about a small inconvenience? This is a reminder to be kind. Everyone is incredibly on edge right now, but when kindness is surprising, we’ve failed as a society.

Got Fauci all loaded up in the car for his annual physical when the vet’s office called to cancel our appointment because of an emergency surgery. The poor nurse was bracing herself for an angry reaction and was surprised at how chill we were about it. That just made me sad.

This. I was raised by a southern woman who was all about appearances. It resulted in an eating disorder and severe perfectionism. When the pandemic hit, I stopped wearing makeup for the first time in 30 years. Now I only put it on occasionally and I feel reclaimed (plus my skin is better than ever).

Everything is bad, but there are still books and bubble baths and banana pudding, Charlie Brown.

Oof. Yeah. It was 21-0 for the first half and at the end of the third the Cowboys had only scored once, and I made the mistake of saying that we were going to win, and then so many mistakes were made. It was brutal. I can’t help but feel like I jinxed us somehow. 😞

The number of times we screamed “Shut up, Tom Brady,” during that Eagles game just now… That game and the announcing sucked. I’m going to drown my sorrows with banana pudding and a bubble bath now.

This is ingenious. Fortunately our crazy family all lives far from us, but I feel like this post has multiple applications. Remember… you can also just say no. It’s a complete sentence.

If these trees survive the Minnesota winter, I’m adding avocados and peaches in the spring. That’s right. My blackest of thumbs may be transformed.

They usually live out on the deck, but they’re currently wintering in my kitchen and oh my gosh. You can take the girl out of Florida, but you can’t take the citrus out of the girl. I’m farming! I’m a farmer! I farmed! Everyone please clap!

Please admire the very first limes that I grew all by myself!!! Last spring I bought a lime tree, a lemon tree, and a mandarin orange tree and they fertilized each other, so the lime was orange inside and was the loveliest tasting thing I’ve had since leaving Florida.

The last prequel was the story of Snow. The new movie is the story of Haymitch. The book is incredible.
