Bells rattled madly as the reindeer fought against its festive restraints. The longer it was held the more deformed it became— growing fresh angry eyes along its neck and sharp black fangs beneath its curled lips. With a hiss its tongue split in two.

I think there’s something about drawing a weird deer in the woods every so often that feels paramount to being a fantasy/speculative fiction artist

Fauna, a purple and tan deer character, has grown a thicker coat in preparation for winter. To celebrate Yuletide she wears some quite ornate tack. Illustrations of moon phases, reindeer antlers, and pieces of mistletoe are all whimsically tooled into the green leather. Small clusters of white fur peek out around the edges, hinting at the soft lining underneath. The reigns are made of real mistletoe woven into leafy ropes. Another sprig of mistletoe hangs playfully down Fauna's forehead; a symbol with more poisonous intention than one might expect. Still, the colors glow warm with a near-vintage aura.

A buck braces himself atop the gaping maw, half of his hooves snagging on its lips. The other half dangles dangerously close to its tongue. "You hurt me," says the buck, head bowed to flash the threatening points of his antlers. An old bite wound marks his shoulder. Angry tears gather in his eyes. The maw, too, sheds salty tears. Bloody spittle flies from its fangs as it snarls its answer, "Your volatile reactions hurt me!"

A bunch of furless clawed hands burst forward- twisting shapes forming a skull like mouth. The skin is sallow and green, furless and wrinkled. There’s an aggression behind the thrusting forward movement of the hands.

No sketches, no reference, just straight ink doodle deer then post. It was a great exercise in curbing perfectionism
