A weather station (KPC_L) standing on the Greenland Ice Sheet. The weather is sunny and mountains can be seen in the background
New weather station data now released on the GEUS Dataverse: doi.org/10.22008/FK2...
We update this monthly with the newest data from our network of >40 weather stations across the Greenland Ice Sheet.
See thredds.geus.dk for our near-real-time data (station-to-user within 15 minutes)

πΉ Glaciers cover 53% of Svalbard
πΉ Between 1936-2010, mean ice thickness dropped 26 m: 0.35m/year or nearly 8 Gt annuallyβ³
πΉ By 2100, Svalbard glaciers are predicted to thin 2-4x faster π¨

Weather stations | PROMICE - GC-NET
There is a map visualisation on promice.org/weather-stat... with locations.
We are going to update this soon as the live data feed currently uses an old production pipeline. We also have our thredds server for near-real-time data from the weather stations (including locations) - thredds.geus.dk

- I want to use this platform to re-establish my own connections in the cryosphere research community, and also communicate about what is happening in Greenland π©βπ¬π¨βπ¬
- I would also like to use this platform to trial promoting new and updated PROMICE/GC-Net datasetsβ¦ so look out for those π

Penny in Iceland last week. She is taking a selfie on SΓ³lheimajΓΆkull, wearing a helmet, sunglasses, and gear for being on a glacier and learning some rescue training. It is very sunny and warm, so smiles all round!
I should probably re-introduce myself here to new and old connectionsβ¦

The DroneLab@UiO was tasked to make a safe system to demo the concept of measurement in vertical profiles to students. To stay flying in the A1 category (which allows flying close to people), and making the operations super easy, we modified a @djiglobal.bsky.social Neo with a <40g backpack!

Amazing, thanks Mike. These feeds you recommended will help get me started. I really like that your feed can be customised... so I don't have to see people I am not subscribed to or depressing political news.
