I like both book forms, although I suspect the brain functions a little differently with the two experiences.

Yes, it's disturbing.

It's a wild ride. The May 09 SL/JJ booking was even signed. It turned into Sam/Iron Hague for Hague's British HW title (won in Apr from Gunner Moir who'd been ducking Langford since 07 during Sam's 1st trip to England - a KO vs Tiger Smith). Hague drew the line after the loss.

Tough to be in with a tank like Battling Jim hurt. Sam/Jack 2 would've been huge. Within weeks of unifying with Burns, Johnson had declined 3 offers in US cities to match him with Langford, and withdrawn from the London Langford booking he already had locked in for May 09. Biggest what if ever IMO

Poetry in motion! The great Joe Louis punches the heavyweight colour line into permanent oblivion with an OLD-old school combo - hooking to the lead arm and delivering a rocket right through the gap (and under the counter hook). #boxinghistory #boxing

The old white champions who'd all drawn the line (at championship level) resented Burns and Johnson, both. It seems Burns almost fought McVea in Paris even before McIntosh met Burns' demands and put on the Johnson unification.

I was shocked how (certain) coverage arguably got worse after Johnson unified vs Burns. This, especially in the aftermath of Johnson/Jeffries, the fragility is embarrassing. As much as possible I've been quoting the writers who were focused on sport, but when unavoidable, I just sensor the slurs.

Reading in the (predominantly 1902-1910) newspaper archives is already my absolute limit for being around bigotry. I'm researching and writing on Langford, it can't be avoided.

Twitter was barely tolerable before Mu5k shitted the place up. Training the algorithm to not feed me stupid and hateful BS was a chore. I'm too old to fight chatroom BS-boosting BS. Glad to see you here, love your work (what I've seen of it).

Yeah it's a relief, for sure. It's hard enough bracing against the overt racism in so much of the early-era NWS boxing coverage, I have no patience for modern-day dipshittery.

Good stuff! I'd already copied/pulled my entire work from the FB group I was part of, over the bullying of Imane Khelif during the Olympics (pulled 200+ articles). Leaving Twitter as well was just a matter of when...and it turns out when was today.
