New study (n=6,125) finds that starting trauma-focused psychotherapy for PTSD while using psychotropic medication is linked to reduced therapeutic gains. The strongest negative associations appeared for antidepressants. doi.org/10.1159/0005...

A new RCT evaluated the effectiveness of standalone #EMDR in the treatment of #personality disorder (PD)s. The results showed significant reductions in PD symptom severity with diagnostic remission in 44.1% of participants. Drop-out was very low (5.1%).

Trauma-focused therapy works, 75% lose their PTSD diagnosis.
But over half still battle symptoms like intrusive memories, avoidance, and negative feelings. Recovery is real, but so is what lingers, therapists should stay vigilant and tackle what remains. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Oddly enough, it took over 30 years before - regarding EMDR therapy a relationship could be found between a decrease in the emotional intensity of a trauma memory and a reduction in PTSD symptoms over time. But no longer, because a new study has demonstrated this connection.

A new RCT using EMDR therapy for personality disorders showed that a high proportion lost their PTSD diagnostic status (73.1%), with a low treatment drop-out rate (5.1%). The results support the utility of trauma-focused therapy for personality disorders. doi.org/10.1159/0005...

New meta-analysis on treatment efficiency of therapies for PTSD shows that despite the fact that there is little difference in effectiveness between EMDR therapy and other therapies, EMDR is more (cost)efficient than all other (10) therapies. bpspsychub.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....

At our #ESTSS2025 symposium in Tbilisi, we presented findings from #PSYTREC’s brief, intensive, evidence-based PTSD treatment. Notably, outcomes were similar for patients with PTSD alone and those meeting DSM criteria for dissociative identity disorder (#DID).

We presented on the results of our brief intensive evidence based treatment of severe PTSD from #PSYTREC at #ESTSS2025 in Tbilisi. We showed that despite the rotation of therapists in our treatment model the therapeutic alliance is very good and remains that way.

Very proud of our researchers who presented on our brief intensive evidence based treatment of severe PTSD from PSYTREC at #ESTSS2025 in Tbilisi. We showed that all our formats are effective: our 8-day program and our two 4-day programs (with or without a week in between).
