The PhD student TAing got all perfect scores aside from one person which consistently gave the worst score. He sent an email apologizing for reading the scale wrong. 🙈

Setting it up is a bit of extra effort, but by now I think I have recouped that effort by not having to explain lbs or where New Hampshire is.

I've mostly given up on textbooks. I provide a syllabus with a range of freely available sources per lecture. A few chapters from various textbooks are included, but the university library provides those digitally to the students for free and checks that I am within the legal limits.

I always thought the "international edition" thing was just some tax avoidance issue. Like beyond the sticker on the front, I have not seen one of those books claim to have different content. On the other hand, the ones that do have different content don't have the sticker.

Nerds of #statsky, particularly #rstats, has anyone got package recommendations that can take a data frame and create a synth of it that maintains metadata (var names, class, etc) and variable distributions, but wipes associations so that you can finalise your analysis before peeking at the data?

(1) I guess so, another reason why we take discharged individuals. I find it reasonable that a psychiatry, aka a team of experts, has a higher probability of diagnosing correctly than a single individual.
(2) I do not see how that changes anything for us.

Ofc some specialize on X, but that is the same as GPs specializing in Y. They should, from the perspective of the legislator, still treat everything. AFAIK, psych/med research in some cases argues that e.g. CBT is superior for Z, but that is not reflected in the old guidelines - might have changed.

Not sure what you mean by generalists and specialists. I've not read the current "Psychotherapie-Richtlinie" the one that applies to our study-period states that all psychotherapists are equal - thus, any mental illness can be treated with therapy (+potential med co-treatment e.g. 💊)

There is more I can say than fits into this medium. The simple answer is: To economists those are costs. They're avoiding patients due to some non-monetary cost. The econ definition of costs and benefits is wider than commonly assumed.

My students struggle with the term cream skimming. So I always take a step back and talk about the cooking/dairy production for a second to explain the term. You should see their faces, when I take a little dairy detour from econ theory to explain the term.

Ahh, der unzureichende Effekt kommt von den null-Effekten auf Wiedereinweisung und der unveränderten Patientenkomposition. Bei Wartezeiten, siehe Tabelle 4, gibt es ja mini-Effekte. Problem ist halt, dass die nichts bringen, weil die Komposition unverändert bleibt.
