Oh no, people used a helpful word to describe an idea more clearly. How dare they!

NYT also appears to have relied heavily on ICE for info, but ICE has been notorious for being uninformed about detainees, even at immigration court. The actual info suggests the guy's legal status is limbo, not a simple "he's here illegally" narrative like NYT presumes. This is bad reporting.

Emphasis on "alleged" charlatan. This article is written like a hit piece, but all of the "hit" parts lean on ambiguity & unverified information. Like, they mention that a non-citizen could legally have a SS number, but their non-citizen status would be crystal clear on the card & w/ the agency.

Not all fedposting takes the form of encouraging [insert violent act]. Encouraging protestors to police other protestors divides people & creates an opportunity for cops to break up the protest. Cops are not your friends & no amount of poor optics justifies police brutality against protestors.

Have you not been paying attention to recent SCOTUS decisions? ICE is literally allowed to racially profile people & detain them.

Typical NCSA bullshit. If you've ever met people w/ lvl 3 needs, you know that they have highly idiosyncratic presentations. The spectrum model is really good at explaining why that's the case because it's predominantly based on the actual fucking science, not autism mom hysteria.

01.10.2025 18:49 β€” πŸ‘ 6    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

"Should the spectrum be split apart?" Why? So yall can pretend your concern is for autistic kids w/ lvl 3 support needs when yall actually just want to justify abusing lvl 1 & 2 autistic kids into masking as neurotypical?

The spectrum saves autistic lives across the full spectrum.

NYT has never met a group of marginalized children they thought was NOT worth killing by spreading bigotted disinformation.

This was already standard practice with the Department of Buildings. NY Post did what they always do by sensationalizing a mundane change in city codes & Barro was just looking for something to validate his argument. Abundance people don't know how to have an honest conversation about housing.

From 9/25/25 council meeting transcript: ". . . there has been misinformation shared in the public, that rather than add a new requirement, this third component eliminates ambiguities with an essential clarification, that gas
work must be performed by a licensed Master Plumber, not you and I."

My first instinct when looking at Rio's bio would've just been to assume it's related to Internal Family Systems stuff (& even if its not IFS, it could be 1000 other things that are similarly valid), so it's telling that BE immediately ran to litter boxes in elementary schools style hysteria.

Regardless of your feelings on my personal views, I've at least given you aconcrete idea so you can then evaluate wheter or not I really am consistent. Jacobin doesn't offer that, so this piece just sounds like they sincerely believe everyone's a hypocrite except for them. It's just sloppy.

that conversation requires us to appreciate that "free speech" is an infeasible idea. Certainly, free-er speech is a very real & pragmatic value, but "free-er" necessarily implies a change in boundaries rather than a true unbinding. Some speech binds us in less humanistic ways than other speech.

29.09.2025 22:05 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Like, I personally believe that being on the left means you recognize that there is such a thing as good/progressive speech & bad/reactionary speech. Speech is used to change norms, & there are 100% bad ways those norms can change. How we limit bad speech from making bad norms is up for debate, but

On Free Speech, Jacobin Has Always Been Consistent In recent years, liberals, the Left, and the Right have all waffled on defending free speech when it doesn’t suit them. But not Jacobin. For 15 years, we have insisted that free speech is a basic democratic principle that must be defended.

This is a weirdly sloppy piece from the Jacobin. If they're going to claim 15 years of consistency on free speech, you'd expect they could articulate a positive conceptualization of a term that is notoriously ambiguous in common parlance.

Million-year-old skull rewrites human evolution, say scientists New analysis suggests our species began to emerge at least half a million years earlier than we thought

Interesting skull-themed news out of China lately. A few days ago it was announced that a human skull was found in China that carbon dates back to a million years ago, about 400,000 years older than we previously thought our species evolved.

You're describing plantation farming where crops are specially selected for industrialized production, not peasant farming. Most crops aren't like that, which is why attempts to industrialize peasant farming have been disastrous. Why do you think the world still heavily relies on peasants in 2025?

26.09.2025 01:05 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I want to emphasize that what you're saying presumes P = NP because you'd have to guarantee that any farm labor involving NP-complete problems could be solved by an AI that lacks AGI skills like generalization & novel problem solving. Since it's very likely P =/= NP, you can't make that guarantee.

25.09.2025 23:01 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

You're living in a fantasy where P = NP & any human activity can be easily automated. The bar for "true AGI" is less intelligent than a squirrel. In hundreds of millions of years of evolution only 1 species has been able to do farming which gives you an idea of how insanely hard it is to automate.

Not really a fan of Stalin, but this is a wildly misinformed take. The pre-WW2 world was extremely hostile to the USSR & the Soviets were *far* from being the superpower they'd be post-war. Like, the USSR had no business winning WW2 & it's a testament to Stalin & Soviet governance that they did.
