horrible what people do to their fellow animals. but breeding and torturing and killing them is considered normal for unnecessary reasons such as taste pleasure and tradition, when there are plant-based alternatives available, so this is not surprising, sadly. being vegan is showing basic respect.

one shouldn't buy any eggs, as we don't need them. all the hens exploited for their eggs are bred to suffer by laying unnatural tons of body-depleting and painful eggs.

estimated over a trillion individuals are killed Each Year for food for humans, the vast majority of it unnecessary. that's more per year than the total number of humans who have ever lived. and it destroys the environment: climate change, deforestation, antibiotic resistance etc. immense suffering.

yes. the one saddest thing though is the suffering horror that is treating non-human animals as disposable exploitable objects rather than the sentient beings they are, when we in modern societies have no need to do so, and how many people participate in this. be vegan and boicott it. be the change.

indeed. and since we can live completely well without animal flesh and reproductive secretions, liking it is not a sufficient reason to use or kill a sentient being. especialy since treating one as a disposable exploitable object inevitably leads to their harm, even in so-called "humane" use/murder.

nowadays we also have developed in-vitro lab-grown animal meat, so even humans with rare digestive issues who can't be on plant-based diets, don't have to have animals exploited and killed.

profit & convenience, especially on such a massive scale as animal exploitation is.

not to mention, animal farming and fishing is an environmental disaster, a leading cause of climate change and of antibiotic resistance and pandemics.

humans can live and thrive without using and killing animals for food. therefore it is unnecessary killing and use. furthermore, when a sentient being is regarded as property, their standards of care will inevitably be extremely low, and considered below the "owner's" whims like

compassion and kindness are good things, but i think it's also important to make it clear that veganism is not about kindness or mercy, but about basic respect, basic morality of not causing needless intentional harm. also i think veganism is no more a 'style' than anti-racism is.
