how very, very sad. humans are, by far, the most barbaric creatures on this planet.

I couldn’t agree more. I don’t think it’s a failure to understand, it’s a deliberate refusal to understand. When there is a conflict between their stated values & their preferred way of acting, people quickly abandon their values & use their intellectual capabilities to rationalise their hypocrisy.

Genocide, like all other atrocities, doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It is fueled by silence, which becomes complicity and normalized by the active participation of the majority who refuse to confront their role in sustaining the systems that keep the cogs of the capitalist death machine turning.

And those who participate in and thereby perpetuate and reproduce this violent abuse wring their hands and wonder how we come to the point where Genocide is not only happening, but we’re expected to accept it as normal by those who frame it as natural and necessary.
