07.08.2025 19:19 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Photograph of artwork made with various packing materials slightly scrunched and then painted over with acrylic paint. Some of the material has holes in it and zigzags imprinted. It has bright reds & oranges contrasting with black, greys & white
Painting/collage from a little while ago. It's called "Hades", I think for obvious reasons ๐
The collage materials were mostly packaging - another form of recycling!

Are you in a position to buy things other than the most basic necessities?
Please buy some art.
Am I an artist? Nope.
Am I promoting a specific artist? Nope.
But artists need to eat. And time to create.
Give it a thought, will you?
I painted this! ๐
02.08.2025 16:15 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Unusually for my work, this piece evolved into something urban!
Layers of acrylic paint, some scraped back, with lots of scratching for a multitude of textures.

It's getting closer! Will be promoting this over the next few weeks. If you're in or around West Somerset in September keep an eye out!

Photo of a painting of large faintly seen flower shapes within an abstract colour palette which includes yellow, orange, blue and sea green
Very pleased with this one, another without a title as yet - but abstracted flowers is where it is currently (not very original I know!)

Photo of 50com sqaure abstract painting on board in acrylics. The background is made up of shades of blue, green and purple, with splodges of white. The surface has strings of small white dots with orange centres spread over it.
New artwork! I've called it "interstellar"
Many layers of acrylic paint, some scraped back to give different shades breaking through, and strings of white dots with orange centres, on board. 50cm square.
Get in touch if you are interested in buying it ๐

โถ โTheyโre living in luxury hotels at our expense!โ Fact: These accommodations typically comprise budget hotels or repurposed facilities. The rooms are basic, frequently cramped, lacking kitchen access, and providing limited privacy. โท โThey get ยฃ40 a day spending money.โ Fact: Asylum seekers residing in hotels receive approximately ยฃ9.58 per week in cash, equating to about ยฃ1.37 dailyโinsufficient to cover even fundamental necessities. โธ โTheyโre taking hotel rooms from paying guests.โ Fact: The government specifically contracts hotels that often have available capacity or are unsuitable for typical guests. Most were not fully booked prior to their use. โน โThey should be working to pay for their stay.โ Fact: Asylum seekers are prohibited from working while their claims are being processedโa policy decision rather than a personal choice. โบ โTheyโre just waiting around doing nothing.โ Fact: The majority of asylum seekers aim to contribute positively. Many engage in volunteering, learning English, or participating in community organisations, despite facing significant uncertainty.
โป โWeโre spending millions on them!โ Fact: The high costs associated with hotel use stem from a broken and backlogged asylum system, not from the individuals utilising it. Delays perpetuate a state of limbo, resulting in increased long-term expenses. โผ โTheyโre given better treatment than our homeless.โ Fact: Asylum seekers are housed in hotels due to the governmentโs legal obligation to accommodate them. Homelessness is a distinct and also underfunded issue; one should not be used to justify neglect of the other. โฝ โTheyโre all men of fighting age.โ Fact: Asylum hotels also house families, women, and children. The narrative surrounding โfighting-age malesโ is often intended to incite fear rather than accurately represent the situation. โพ โThey could have stayed in a safe country.โ Fact: International law does not mandate claiming asylum in the first safe country encountered. Individuals arrive in the UK for various reasonsโlanguage preferences, family connections, historical ties, or safety concerns elsewhere. ๐๐ โTheyโre pretending to be refugees to get free stuff.โ Fact: The vast majority of asylum seekers are legitimate refugees fleeing war, torture, and persecution. Their claims undergo individual assessments based on stringent criteria. Asylum seekers residing in hotels are not leading luxurious livesโthey are enduring hardships while awaiting safety. The core issue lies not with those occupying the hotels, but rather with the prolonged circumstances that have led them there.
10 prevalent misconceptions regarding asylum hotels, clarified and refuted with accurate information for you to share, particularly if you are sick of hearing the same tired and often racially motivated arguments.

I don't know how or why people started thinking it was annoying or insincere to give compliments but it's not. Artists like knowing if people resonate with things we make.

Iโve gone all decisive and added these recent โhouseโ paintings to my art shop. Just kinda need to sell stuff and be alive and try to enjoy my life and all that. Oo look. and reposts of this are appreciated.

It really canโt be emphasized enough: reposts help a LOT. They are genuine, REAL support. This isnโt Twitter, where links out, images, and self-promo get buried. Word-of-mouth matters here, it makes a genuine difference.

There's some rumblings around this joint suggesting that posting art or flowers or anything positive is lame & out of touch. I say piss off! In hard times, in destructive times, in unbelievable times, it is & has always been art & beauty that act as a societal balm. More art ๐
