Getting a ton of Sandlin questions.

This doesn't foreclose him moving back to SP. They did this with, for example, Houck in late 2019.

Shouldn't hurt his development at all, and his future home might be RP anyway. Need to add him to the 40-man this winter, may as well see it.

David Sandlin worked a short outing tonight. Bit surprising 3 days after he threw 57 pitches. Threw 33 tonight incl the below, then struck out a batter in the 6th before being lifted.

Some loud contact but it's about getting used to the role for now.

One more note on Tolle: he technically won't be promoted until Wednesday for roster-related reasons.

Likely related: The way last week played out, Jose De Leon is the only pitcher on the roster rested to start Tues., plus, need to add Criswell & Bernardino. Lots of moving parts.

Per team source, plan is for P. Tolle to start in AAA. But while IP for the year doesn't carry weight it once did, it is part of equation in managing workload.

My own speculation now, if his pitch count keeps ramping down, at some point, why not see what it looks like in relief?

So, there's apparently a conspiracy theory that the Red Sox shut Mayer down 3 at-bats short of 130 to retain his rookie eligibility for next year.

This is nonsense. He has exhausted his rookie eligibility via service time (which is why we graduated him).

Not terribly surprising that Jordan goes to STL here. He was reportedly part of the Arenado negotiations this offseason.

OF Miguel Bleis (#SP60 #13) had been the DH in the suspended 7/13 Drive game being resumed today. However, he was replaced in the lineup when play resumed.

I have confirmed he's not injured and is scheduled to be in the lineup for game 2 in CF, per a team source.

This is why Hamilton is up and Grissom isn't (among several).

Red Sox are now in a virtual tie with Seattle for the second wild card after going 4-5 on that brutal NL stretch. Strength of schedule the rest of the way is back to a reasonable number, down to about .500. Go get a starter and a couple relievers.
