I was honored this week to receive the Marcel PichΓ© prize. But a prize is never a one person achievement. Thanks to everyone who made an impact in my career (too many to name all). And check out the nice video! www.instagram.com/reel/DR4YwVp...

Just a heads up: I just got a phishing attempt pretending to be from the #VisualSystemDevelopment #GRC. It looked pretty convincing at first glance, so be careful!

In my postdoc lab, there was a tube of anti-GFAP labelled "1979 batch" and I used it multiple times successfully!

Maybe, but private investment is not interested in fundamental research. Only applied. Serves a different purpose. We need fundamental discovery research to fuel applied research, and I think it is the government’s job to fuel this.

All nice and good, but they forgot one thing: success rates for federal grant applications hover around 15%, how will these newcomers get funding for their research after they move to Canada? It is one thing to attract, but we also need sustainability for excellent science!

We will all fight for the bread crumbs, while the international talents will come and fix Canadian science on big money...πŸ™„

Retinal glia regulate development of the circadian photoentrainment circuit Circadian photoentrainment depends on intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs), which convey environmental light information to th…

Our latest paper is out! While the circadian photoentrainment circuit has been extensively studied, the mechanisms regulating its development remain poorly understood. Here we show that retinal MΓΌller glia play a key role in this process. Check it out! www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

For sure. But the least we can do is to invest the same (or more) portion of our GDP for research as countries of the OECD.

Canada’s brain gain: A scientific migration amid U.S turmoil More than 600 scientists – about half from the U.S. – β€˜raise their hands’ as they compete for positions at a Canadian Hospital.

I’m sure this guy is great, not the point, but to think the solution to Canadian scoence is to attract a few dozen scientists from abroad is complete nonsense. There are just as good scientists here. The problem is chronic underfunding. But this does not make headlines www.ctvnews.ca/health/artic...
