I hate that we live in a world where this might actually be a good deal. Iirc it’s not really much faster than a Steam Deck (specifically the regular one listed here, the X is considerably faster) so there’s not really much reason to get one over a Deck OLED, except you can’t BUY a Deck OLED now

My 2 TB HDD died a year or two ago (after a few years of showing obvious signs of failure) and I put off replacing it telling myself “storage is cheap I’ll just buy a SATA SSD when I really need it”

Aside from the Xenoblades, I think the game I want most to get a Switch 2 patch/release is actually Rune Factory 5. I want a physical copy of it, but it’s not on PS5 and I’ve heard it’s borderline unplayable on the Switch 1.

None of this is hard to do (I actually HAD Linux on one of my laptops for a while but I moved it back to Windows due to some annoyances) but I’m lazy as hell and any additional friction kicks stuff to the very bottom of the list of things to do usually

Windows not supporting EXT4 (easily) is lowkey really annoying. I’ve been dragging my ass getting ROMs on the Steam Deck I bought specifically for emulation because I need to either install Linux or use a live boot USB for like, Bodhi Linux or something on a spare laptop to drag ROMs to my SD card

I think it’s kinda cool how Kagurabachi’s hype and fandom started entirely as a meme and then it turns out it’s actually a pretty good read so the ironic praise turned unironic. I’ve not read much of it myself but its cultural existence is really cool

My friend made me watch KnK a year or two ago and I’m glad he did. I thought most of the individual movies were just OK, but a couple were standout and as a complete package, it’s a REALLY good watch. I think I’d really appreciate it on a rewatch now that I understand it & might pick up missed hints

Going off of memory, a LOT of PSP games are pretty affordable now. COVID boom died off on Sony handhelds from what I recall, so it's mostly the really niche/rare stuff that's still expensive. If it IS the niche/rare stuff you sold off, OOF

I knew the PSP library was dope but I recently hacked my PSP and loading it up with ISOs made me realize exactly how insane that library truly is. It's got something for literally everyone in spades.

I LOVE the Vita, it's one of my favorite consoles ever, but the wasted potential makes me sad man

WRT the last point, I do acknowledge the Vita existed basically at the nadir of Sony's now-dormant franchises. Iirc Sly Cooper or Jak or both was in a terrible state by that point and Ratchet & Clank wasn't faring a ton better?

Imagining the world that could've been if the Vita had even half the support of the PSP. Imagine a Vita with a unique Gran Turismo, some kinda GTA (even literally just the mobile PS2 ports), and a Horizon or GoW 2018 or both tie-in
It also coulda become home to dormant franchises like Jak

I predict the PS6’s library will be genuinely gas almost entirely because of long-lasting effects from COVID delays combined with how insane dev cycles have gotten. The PS5 library is extremely crippled because of those factors, & the PS6 will likely inherit a lot of games originally meant for PS5

I didn’t realize you could turn the camera in Sonic Adventure 1 until like, 2/3rds of the way through Sonic’s route. I tried the right joystick, triggers, and dpad, and none of them worked, so I assumed the camera just auto rotated. Discovered by accident it was in fact LB/RB to rotate the camera

I’ve not played .hack before but I’m begging and praying it’s not a mobile game

Void Ark, yeah, but even a really clean Tower run with competent people is usually upwards of 40 minutes. It’s already the longest AR clean, and then people usually also die so it often takes closer to 50-70 mins. It’s my favorite AR in the game but they gave the bosses way too much HP

I still use the bird app for the singular purpose of checking my local NWS office for more accurate weather forecasts, and Twitter’s doing everything in its power to make me not even want to do that now. It now throws up a splash screen to install the app every time you visit a page or close a tweet

I miss 16:9 phones so bad, man. Give me a Galaxy Note 4 or a Nexus 6 with modern internals and I'd be a happy camper, those were the perfect form factor. 18:9 and beyond is too tall at the screen sizes I want

Also bring back the headphone jack and SD card slot, I still miss those

Nerdposting, but it's kinda wild how many things Samsung's 8nm node made worse. It's why the SD888 and 8 Gen 1 are such notoriously hot, inefficient chips, it's why RTX 3000 chips (especially the 3080+) pull such ludicrous amounts of power, & it's why the Switch 2's battery life sucks
