Actually hadn't realized how far east Peru sits compared to Canada.

I'm full of regret for not attending the Involve conference in Ōtautahi this week, Aotearoa's biannual youth development and youth health gathering. Watching all my youth sector friends gathering in one place has me feeling like I missed out big time.

I may be an asshole but every time I see one of those Magic Eye images on social media I always comment "whoa it's a sailboat cool!" even if it's something like a duck.

I was wondering as well, because initially when I checked my details it came back saying I wasn't listed but when I went back and used the address field selecting the unique way my address was listed on their drop down menu it showed up.

A couple years ago there was a solid boom on vegan food options. My local supermarket literally had THREE different frozen vegan lasagna on offer. But over the past year it's all slowly disappeared.

I'm particularly bummed out because the frozen vegan steam buns I love seem to have also gone 😥

We're kinda of limited further cause we were already vegan when Rom got their coeliacs diagnosis. There are some good gluten free bakeries around, Wen & Yen Bakery is rad. Venerdi is our go to bread and bun option. I prefer the brown rice pasta options for spaghetti.

Anything in particular you're after? My partner has coeliacs so I've gotten skilled at gluten free shopping, cooking, and eating.

Just attended a webinar for primary care providers about MSD support, and honestly the vibe nearly felt like neoliberalist propaganda throughout. The repeated uncritical claim of the "health benefits of employment" had negative health impacts of my appetite.

Worth noting though that Phil Goff was a member of New Zealand's left wing party before this role (and former mayor of Auckland City), and he was sacked by the most far right government we've seen in decades here. They woulda been looking for an excuse to replace him.

I don't think appropriate care planning, intervention, or even prescribing can be optimally carried out without at least the inclusion of a nursing paradigm, but in contrast to all other areas of healthcare nurses are nearly absent in primary care planning.

It mostly boils down to the fact the GPs, while being great diagnosticians, have a deep but narrow scope of practice, where as nurses, and I mean even just registered nurses, have a much broader biopsychosocial scope which allows for more holistic assessment, and as such should lead overall care.

Transparency, I'm an NP that works in a clinic without a GP - non-profit NGO, always nurse-led even when we have GPs on the team. That's why we're so successful with our outcomes, they aren't stiffed by the narrow perspective of biomedical hegemony.

I don't think primary care (rather than the term general practice) should be GP led tbh, I think that's a big part of the problem. But I also don't think capitalist/for profit approaches to primary care are improved by expanding ownership/profiteering to NPs.
