Game 61 - Super Mario Land: It’s not aged particularly well, but at launch this must have been pretty cool. I like that it’s weird but sometimes it’s too weird, the final boss probably shouldn’t be a side scrolling shooter.

Game 60 - The Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask: One of those games where I can absolutely see why it’s as popular as it is, but I can’t deny its flaws either. Unmatched atmosphere and some great and unique side content but the main quest really leaves a lot to be desired.

I saw someone complaining the other day that Waddle Dee is “overexposed” and I’m sorry but there’s no such thing. All Waddle Dee all the time thank you very much.

Game 59 - Survival Kids: I first played this as Stranded Kids on the Gameboy Color which I think is a better name, but revisiting it on NSO has been a fun nostalgia trip. I’m not one for survival games usually but the systems are basic so dont overwhelm and otherwise it’s a cute little puzzle rpg

Aiden being a complete dick is one of the best things about it. He sucks so much and I love him for it (Also lol he’s from Belfast 🤣)

I love Watch Dogs and always have, in spite of its flaws.

Game 58 - Donkey Kong 94: It’s crazy that indie devs keep making puzzle platformers when Nintendo made the best one back in 1994. Possibly the best Donkey Kong game, and definitely one of the best games on the Gameboy. If you haven’t played it, get on it asap, it’s really that good.

Game 57 - Pac-Man World RePac: Pac-man isn’t often remembered as a 2d series that nailed its transition to 3D but I really think it did, and this upgrade to the PlayStation original is a great way to see just how.

Anyone excited for the Pac-man World 2 remake can thank me and @metapaddington.bsky.social for deciding to play the first remake the day before the direct, I think we manifested it when I said “oh this is really fun, I hope they remake the others”

Game 56 - Donkey Kong: After finishing Bananza thought I would go back and remind myself how it all started, and it’s kind of crazy how fun and addictive it still is. There’s not a lot to it, but it is fun seeing how many times through you can go.

Game 55 - Donkey Kong Bananza: Nintendo hit it out of the park again. So fun to just smash your way through everything. I enjoyed Mario Kart World enough, but this is *the* reason to buy a Switch 2. The definition of a Killer App.

I’ve always had a big soft spot for gen 6, I replayed Y last year and I’m tempted to do it again.

Game 54 - Sayonara Wild Hearts: Lovely looking visuals paired with a great soundtrack and a nice variety in the gameplay. Not very long but the gold ranks are challenging enough to encourage replaying. Looks and plays great on the Switch too 😁

Time to aim for that platinum me thinks

Game 53 - A Short Hike: Wanted something chill when relaxing earlier and I forgot just how fun it is to glide around the island and how many little things there are to discover. If you have an afternoon free and don’t know what to do, this would be a great shout.

Specifically in the Watanabe modes defence, (from my understanding of how it’s been described) the music was curated by Watanabe himself, and I understand the Kurosawa mode has the blessing of his estate?

They feel a bit more like paying homage to influences, but I can see your point.

Game 52 - Death Stranding 2 On The Beach: A surprisingly iterative sequel, but probably my favourite game I’ve played this year. I loved the first one when I played it during lockdown and this did not let me down. Mad, beautiful, messy but with a lot of heart. Gonna be hard to beat.
