09.02.2026 04:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0"You face [the Israeli soldiers] and then go home ... to your children. How can you change your mental state quickly and be with the children and play and laugh, when just a few moments ago you were fighting with a soldier while you saw your friend bleeding? You live with more than one persona."

09.02.2026 04:05 β π 183 π 55 π¬ 1 π 1I also canβt imagine that the somehow-still-pretty-terrible AI subtitles that NBC is using for the Olympics is *helping* with the public perception of these products
09.02.2026 04:06 β π 190 π 20 π¬ 7 π 4anyway going back to the start, I think city-run Mend and Repair shops would be a good bulwalk against everything getting cheaper and training people on how to fix things as a measure of independence while also giving a lot of old experts a job
23.12.2025 09:58 β π 48 π 7 π¬ 1 π 0Read books written by Black people - this month and every other damn month.
That includes poetry, fiction and non-fiction.
These would make a great Doctor Who nemisis. Old school Who, like Pertwee.

After the [1970s], when 3M scientists established that the chemical was toxic in animals and was accumulating in humans, it produced millions of pounds per year."
08.02.2026 06:56 β π 4 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0All you're doing is polluting the information with potential inaccuracies, meaning anyone who finds out after the fact that the transcription used AI is going to have to scrap everything and go looking for the originals
09.02.2026 03:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I wouldn't trust it, you're just going to have to go through and check each word. Why not just type it up?
09.02.2026 03:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thank you everyone who got involved! It helped a lot with determining the issue. Turned out to be an SSL issue and it should hopefully be fixed for good now.

Way too many people in the comments praising Firefox for putting an optional off switch on the genAI features instead of not having genAI features in the first place.

08.02.2026 23:37 β π 3049 π 585 π¬ 9 π 7It's funny that anyone thinks chatgpt is answering any question that already isn't on Reddit. The answers are coming from somewhere, and if they're too unique it'll require someone who can think outside the box, so to speak. LLM's are firmly, squarely inside a box - and they're still often wrong

08.02.2026 21:07 β π 101 π 8 π¬ 1 π 0Absolutely amazed that we live in an era when social media watchers are the first sign of the next big scandal.
08.02.2026 15:17 β π 638 π 122 π¬ 5 π 3I think all the time about how every tech company desperately tried to get us on board with crypto/NFTs in 2022, including all those Super Bowl ads. They wasted a bunch of energy, spewed a bunch of emissions, got vulnerable people hooked on pyramid schemes, and then just pretended it didn't happen?

I write weird-ass books. They take a long time to write: I pour layers of weird and the layers need to set before I can layer on more weird. But it's still a story.
I'm not worried about a machine automating weirdness. The internet has been weird my whole life and we've still needed weird stories.
For the life of me, I cannot understand how people have gotten this dependent on this technology, to the point that their brains have just shut off.
