Most magicians leave the mundane world after they stop aging (roughly around the age of 35) and live quiet lives when the two main Magical Societies™️ aren't fighting each other.

Since there's so few magicians and backlash is a thing, it hasn't really shaped mainstream culture.

and healing (self-explanatory)

When a magician first gets their magic, they only have one type, but as they get older/more powerful, they can do more.

IMO, the scariest use of magic is at the climax, but that's spoilers. So here's a two-fer of scary and romantic. Scary-mantic? 😂

The scariest part about this is that this wasn't Emmanuel at his full power. Not in the slightest. (They discuss this later on.)

I think the hardest part of writing romance is just making it believable and making MCs/LIs that people can root for.

I've definitely read some romances where I thought "do these people really love each other, or do they just like banging?" and some where I thought "dump them!"

The most common consequence of magic is backlash.

Whenever a normie sees blatant magic, it'll backfire on the user, cutting them, bruising them, etc... a *very* unlucky magician can get caught up in a backlash spiral and die.
