An Oklahoma City employee moonlights as a pastor who preaches death for LGBTQ people During the work week, Dillon Awes secures city data. But at the church he runs, he has a history of despicable sermons.

Dillon Awes works for Oklahoma City’s IT department, where his colleagues call him "polite and friendly."

But they just found out that when he preaches at his church, he regularly glorifies violence against LGBTQ people.

Southern Baptists target porn, sports betting, same-sex marriage and 'willful childlessness' Southern Baptists meeting this week in Dallas will be asked to approve resolutions calling for a legal ban on pornography and reversing the U.S.

The proposed resolutions call for laws on gender, marriage and family based on what they say is the biblically stated order of divine creation. They also call for legislators to curtail sports betting and to support policies that promote childbearing.

This material includes the personal papers of local LGBTQ+ Rights activist Paul Thompson, who was the long time male co-chair of the former Oklahoma Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus.

In addition to material from Herland, work is also proceeding on archival material collected from sources in Arkansas and Texas, as well as Oklahoma.

The product of ten years of work, this material is being made available through the online resources of UCO's Chambers Library and the Oklahoma County Metropolitan Library System. The project is also supported by the Oklahoma Historical Society.

Today, the University of Central Oklahoma Women's Research Center & BLGTQ+ Student Center announced the completion of the first stage of their ongoing project to digitize the archives of Herland Sister Resources and place them online for public access.

If signed, HB 1217 would make Oklahoma the 7th state in the country to enact legislation meant to chill speech and target drag performances, and the first since 2023.

On a party line vote, HB 1217 passes off the Senate floor with an emergency. The bill, which could be used to target pride performances next month, now advances to the Governor's desk.

Goodwin in debate against the bill names that not a single instance of kids being harmed was named, and that the vague answers about googling instances further points to the chilling effect of this bill.

Hicks asks her colleague whether they have been to a drag show or not, whether they understand drag as an art form or not, that they should let not fear but freedom guide their vote today.

Hicks says HB 1217 is not about addressing a problem, it's about manufacturing one.

Hicks notes that drag performers and venues have seen an increased rise in violence because of anti-drag rhetoric, like that surrounding and encouraged by this bill.
