In 2025, we spoke out for families and children, because faith demands justice.
We are particularly thankful for the recent budget result, building on our prayers and calls to the Government.
Today we want to acknowledge and thank the amazing members of our Executive Committee, we couldnβt do any of this without you.
There are committee positions up for election next year so if you are interested get in touch to join us at next AGM.
Itβs always a joy to join with our members each month to pray and we look forward to continuing on in 2026
10.12.2025 13:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Every month we join together to pray for politics and our world.
This year weβve had some incredible organisations join us to share about their work - thank you to Aid to the Church in Need UK , JustMoney Movement, Arise UK, Church Action for Tax Justice and International Justice Mission
As we prepare for Christmas, we give thanks for the hope that inspires our politics and for the year that has been.
These words from John remind us that hope is resilient. So may Christβs light renew our courage, deepen our compassion, and draw us into a politics shaped by love.
π βοΈ Join us over the next few days for our β12 days of Christmas Advent Calendarβ To celebrate and reflect on everything that has happened at Christians on the Left in 2025.
08.12.2025 13:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Every church leader, community volunteer, teacher I know has anecdotes about the depth of child poverty. This might feel like one for the data nerds, but it will be hugely powerful in policy terms.
05.12.2025 13:32 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0There is much more to be done, but today's strategy is a welcome & transformative step towards it, the result of much hard work by so many organisations and MPs, including plenty of Christians on the Left members. (4/4)
05.12.2025 13:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The pledge to collect data tracking deep material poverty will put numbers to the reality that our members β through churches, community work, education and beyond β are all too well aware of, and better enable policy to meet the challenge of eradicating it. (3/4)
05.12.2025 13:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1The strategy recognises the holistic measures needed to address the causes and consequences of child poverty, from ending the scandal of children growing up in B&Bs, to offering breakfast clubs, to scrapping the two child benefit limit. (2/4)
05.12.2025 13:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ending child poverty is fundamental to our vision and values, both as Christians and of the Labour Party. The plans outlined in today's Child Poverty Strategy to lift the children of this country out of poverty are both bold and morally right. (1/4)
05.12.2025 13:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Keir Hardie believed politics could be an act of love a legacy still shapes Christians on the Left today.

For 65 years, Christians on the Left has been shaped by the people who call this community home.
Today weβre sharing Rachelβs story, why she joined, what keeps her hopeful, and how her faith shapes her politics.
Thank you to everyone who has helped shape this movement over the decades.

I wrote for Premier this week on what I think Badenoch & Cates get wrong about (what the Bible says about) the relationship between the church and the welfare state.
28.11.2025 14:33 β π 9 π 8 π¬ 2 π 3πGod of hope, renew our spirits and help us keep believing in the possibility of a fairer, kinder world.
28.11.2025 13:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hope is the quiet strength that keeps movements alive and communities resilient.
This weekend, letβs hold fast to hope not because everything is easy, but because God is present in every effort toward the common good. β¨
Hope isnβt wishful thinking, itβs an act of faithful resistance.
In a world that often tells us to expect the worst, hope tells us a different story:
that transformation is possible,
that compassion is powerful,
and that justice is worth pursuing.
Ahead of today's budget our director, Hannah Rich, has written for Mainstream about how we need the moral courage in government to make decisions like ending the two child benefit limit simply because theyβre the right thing to do.

As the Budget looms, Labour have lost the art of making the moral case for policy - but this could change with the two-child benefit limit, writes @chrleft.bsky.social Director Hannah Rich (@hannahmerich.bsky.social).

β¨ Read the latest in our 65th anniversary series: Faith and the Fight for Justice β The Chartists and the Roots of Christian Socialism

The Chartists remind us that justice begins with recognising the God-given worth of every person. Their courage and moral vision helped lay the foundations for Christian socialism and the values our movement carries forward today.
24.11.2025 13:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This week on our blog, we explore the Chartist movement of 1848 β a mass campaign for democracy grounded in dignity, equality, and, for many, deep Christian conviction.
24.11.2025 13:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As we celebrate 65 years of Christians on the Left, weβre looking back to the movements that helped shape our belief that faith belongs in public life.
24.11.2025 13:00 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0πGod of peace, quiet our anxious hearts and steady our steps. Help us bring Your peace into every space we enter.
21.11.2025 13:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As Christians on the Left, we seek a peace that isnβt passive, but active, a peace that leads us toward justice, neighbourliness, and the common good.
May we enter the weekend carrying a peace that steadies us and strengthens us for the work ahead. πΏ
As we close another week filled with headlines, responsibilities, and noise, weβre reminded that Godβs peace isnβt an escape from the world, itβs a grounding within it.
True peace comes when we choose compassion over cynicism, hope over fear, and courage over despair.
Ahead of the Budget, weβre praying and advocating for choices that lift children out of poverty and strengthen families. Our statement today reflects our hope for a fairer economy shaped by justice and compassion.
