To put this another way, Trump's lies and hate campaigns probably worked mostly on the same people who voted for him in 2020. Kept them pumped. That isn't why 7M who voted to fire Trump in 2020 didn't show up this time.

We need a new, more progressive and energetic Democratic leadership.

The point is, the results show a Democratic slump, not a MAGA surge.

I don't agree that the Dem slump is a product only of info war. People had valid reasons to be unhappy or angry with Biden & Harris. Letting Trump back in was super-dumm, but I think the Clinton-to-Biden Democrats are finished.

There is no evidence that MAGA or its enthusiasm grew significantly.

Again, this is weak turnout on the Blue side, not national shift to the right as the spin map tries to make us believe.

In fact, many people were unhappy with Biden-Harris for "leftist" reasons.

This addresses that. The map shows weak turnout for Harris (74.2M), as compared with 81.3 M votes to fire Trump in 2020. Trump gained very little (76.7 M vs. 74.2 M in 2020). Voters were dissatisfied or angry with Biden-Harris and seem to have forgotten Trump's evils.

I think you can attend any of these meetings and participate in these organizations without fear that you will be entrapped in violence, or in nonviolent confrontation that you are not prepared for. But I think we all need to think hard about what we would sacrifice to defend democracy and humanity.

This account is based on recognizing that the challenge of defeating MAGA fascism will demand a willingness to engage in nonviolent resistance, to put our bodies on the line.

All organizations should be committed to nonviolence, responsibility and discipline in confronting violence & authority.

Harris lost for working-class malaise and progressive discontent.

Biden was blamed for inflation, perhaps unfairly, but he did not lead us through it. We needed a president.

He was also blamed for Gaza. Fairly.

Of course, many are already having their doors broken down. One thing that makes nonviolence difficult is that so many are already experiencing violence and have been down through history. So we have a violent culture, with constant threats and offenses. And now we are facing a violent dictatorship.

There is no analytical reason to look at percentages instead of totals. Trump did not win because MAGA grew. Harris lost because many Blue voters were not happy with Biden-Harris.
