This is a Lost PCB from the day 3 SMD soldering workshop at Hardware Hacking Assembly! This interactive cat PCB purrs when petted nicely, and hisses when provoked. Owner didn’t pick it up after MCu programming. See video and unique 0402 practice grid photo. Help us reunite! #39c3

For Bay Area Maker Faire this year, I made keychain PCBs for folks to solder using iFixit's Power Series portable soldering stations. Thanks to @OshPark for the purple PCBs, and @iFixit for the soldering irons. I have a few kits left to share. Catch me at the next event. #ifixit #oshpark #makerfaire

For my booth at Bay Area Maker Faire, I repped my EMF Explorer board with an interactive listening station for exploring sounds. The kiddos had a blast exploring! The EMF Explorer Badge is available from the Maker Shed, linked in my bio. Pro photos thanks to mallingong.com

Bay Area Makerfaire was another wonderful year, and I got to teach two EMF Explorer Badge workshops. With #iFixit sponsoring the soldering irons this year, it was SO much nicer having quality tools on hand for the students to learn with. Huge thanks to iFixit for helping make the event a success.

For #Teardown2024, I created an SMD solder challenge board. The OG design made by MakersBox was a perfect fit for the escalator artwork from the t-shirts, which I converted into PCB layers and printed by #OshPark. The component sizes went down to 0201, and some folks achieved a full build!

#Teardown2025 was our best year ever. I helped with so many wonderful workshops and taught a workshop myself, using my EMF Explorer Badge soldering board to explore electromagnetic frequencies. Thanks to all the epic folks who taught workshops and attendees who helped make it a success.

#HackadayEurope was a blast. Hosted at Motion Labs in Berlin, we showed up early to help solder up all the SAOs as a last-minute assembly party in preparation for everyone's arrival the next day. Attendees got a batch of SAOs to get them started, which paired well with Hackaday's SAO badge design.

The EMF workshop at dadaLab in Austin, TX was wonderful. The lighting, projections, and attentive students made for a wonderful event. Thanks again to dadaLab for providing such a great space. If you missed out and want an EMF Explorer board, check the link in my profile to buy your own.

A tiled array of images showing colorful circuit boards with LEDs in various fibonacci configurations, a cat on it hind legs pawing at something that has an enamaled-pin look, LEDs lit up and shaped like a rainbow, unicorn, and lightning bolt, some small rectangular circuit board LED controllers, a black breadboard with a probe, a book called Skill Seeker, a UFO beaming up a human, a box of GlowStitch LED strips, and a box with diffused red, green, and blue lights on its front.

#WHY2025 (What Hackers Yearn) was amazing. I taught 5 workshops at the Hardware Hacking Village, run by Mitch Altman. The strict photo policy and 50 students per class = no photos of participants. I'll be teaching again for Congress this winter in Hamburg, Germany. Are you going? If so, let me know!

For #Toorcamp2024, I taught my EMF Explorer Badge soldering workshop with about 40 participants, and there were SO many interesting things to listen to across the campgrounds! The event happens every other year on Orcas Island. Great way to relax in the woods with 700 nerds camping with fast WiFi

This was an experiment from years ago, but I still love it. I wanted to virtually create a sculpture. I sculpted the tree in VR, 3D printed it, then programmed touch-reactive lighting to create an adjustable lamp. I love the concept and hope to return to this sometime to create the next version.

I typically use a combination of procreate and affinity designer. Thea Flowers Gingerbread.wntr.dev tool was super helpful for getting all the layers imported into Kicad at once, vs importing the layers individually.

This PCB I made can be installed either as an SAO (simple add-on) or worn as an β€œenamel” lapel pin. This eye is from Γ†on Flux, which was an animated avant-garde science-fiction adventure television series and a core part of my childhood. Find me at local events if you want to grab one for yourself.

Photo of a black hexagonal printed circuit board with white artistic illustration of a UFO beaming up a person. The beam emanating from the UFO is glowing green, and the beam extends onto the actual surface the PCB is resting on. Two black cylindrical inductors are sticking out from the bottom edge of the PCB.
Also shown: a rectangular sticker with black markings and text on a holographic rainbow background, and a white sticker with description and instructions. The text on the holographic sticker read:

The text on the white sticker reads:

I finally got an EMF Explorer Badge kit by @drc3p0.bsky.social! The PCB art is beautiful, the kit is easy to assemble & it sounds amazing. I spent some time over the weekend wandering the house listening to different sources of electromagnetic frequency noise.

Stanford Medicine scientists pinpoint COVID-19 virus’s entry and exit ports inside our noses A discovery by Stanford Medicine researchers and colleagues may pave the way for a β€œmorning after” or prophylactic nasal spray to prevent infection.
