I am pleased to say that growing up as an adult in the early 90s I recognised it as a crock of shite and tried to be a better person.

My parents were very right wing. Supported South Africa, wanted the return of the death penalty, etc. I was brought up to be part of that world, as were I think many of my classmates. I'm not proud of my teenage self, but I can say I was one of the crowd not the outlier.

I was one of Maggie's Assisted Place kids at one of the most high-flying academic UK private schools from 1982 to 1989. This statement has *so* much truth to it. There was a guy in my year who fit that completely. The scary thing is I heard he joined the police.

I don't think things will get better for UK trans people in 2026. Transphobes will continue marginalising us, with aid from media & government.

I worry they'll seek to remove our IDs, or criminalise us.

Best chance is May local elections. If Greens do well, it's a shot across their bows.

They interpret "Never again" as "Never again to the people they did it to last time". They fail to see the equivalence in their current actions.
