Laid flat - patterns like this will make a significant seam between each repeat, so it's super important to block a hat with a pattern like this to loosen it up and lessen the pucker

Here's the pattern for this. Its free on Pinterest. I made it on size US 7 needles with 100 stitches. I used red heart yarn and even after blocking it, it's still pretty stiff and the size was smaller than I expected but will still fit most.
