Reed belts and open water criss-crossed by old trenches

Measuring in a Coastal mire (you see the Eddy-Covariance tower in the middle?) between land and sea with the legacy of the two biggest climate sins: 1. Drained peatlands (this one rewetted since quite a few years now). 2. The coal power plant (on the horizon), which hopefully will shut down soon.

Winter is for finishing, recalibrating and community. Today we combined it all and cleaned up our longest running field site, which looks like a lake but is actually a #peatland, in a joined effort by Universities of Rostock and Greifswald. Wishing you all a joyful end of the year!

Because of different sensitivities and feedbacks in the climate system, there's essentially a linear relationship between cumulative CO₂ emissions and global warming that we call Transient Climate Response to Emissions (TCRE).

Overwintering strategy regulates phenological sensitivity and consequences for ecological services in a clade of temperate North American insects <em>Functional Ecology</em> journal publishes high-impact research providing a mechanistic understanding of ecological pattern and process from the organismic to ecosystem scale.

Study: butterfly species that overwinter as eggs are experiencing more climate-change related seasonal mismatch with the plants they feed on than other butterflies, and are declining faster.
