Here’s a very simple argument against Hegel’s philosophy: that Hegel makes people feel like they have transcended the laws of logic proves that Hegel’s philosophy is dangerous. This persuasion simply has the effect of confidently submerging people in error.

Courts should be the kind of things that it doesn’t matter who packs them. That it does, there is a failure of law at work somewhere along the way.

In this day and age redacted files aren’t a bad thing, because it still provides evidence that the information exists, making it harder for the DOJ and FBI to destroy the files. Don’t get me wrong— we need to see everything, but with this level of corruption I suspect they want to destroy evidence.

If you want something profound, consider this: we humans rarely grasp the full potential of our own tools. A chimpanzee knows a stick can pull ants from a log, but never imagines it as a spear. We, too, live inside the limits of our imagination.

Why this matters? Because it tells us that highly defensible narratives can shift culture. People aren’t thinking anymore, they’re following narrative-streams delivered to them through social media. Moral: learn to make a strong case, if it can be made morally, all the better.

Cultural shifts in shallow culture: the simple fact that a narrative is too hard to defend against, such as the Epstein narrative, automatically causes people to distance from those condemned by it— simply because holding opposition to it is too difficult: “are you really defending that?”

Weird. Nothing on the @nytimes.com homepage about the President of the United States calling for the execution of members of the opposition in response to their political speech.

Yes, Marc Elias is the greatest democracy fighter I have seen in my lifetime. Legal minds everywhere, pushing back, contextualizing for us. Law is an incredible thing. Of course, it also has an ideological side, but in itself it’s at the core of civilization.

Some of the best legal minds that America has ever produced are fighting this regime everyday on every front. It’s extraordinary.

I think it is wise advice to always call the police (when people dressed like this won’t identify themselves) and report that people are impersonating officers.

Johnson doesn’t look shook to me. Look at that little smile form on his face. I’m highly skeptical. I suspect the Republican corruption of the DOJ and FBI thinks they can land this plane without casualties. And, tragically, because they control the material, it might actually work.

This interview was ingenious because Harris got Wilson to plainly show how fanatical his beliefs are. What seems normal to a religious fundamentalist like Wilson, is obvious extremism to the average person. It comes across as absolutely crazy, because it is.
