I agree that fascism is in itself a suicidal political orientation, conceptually, but all you said can be true without the single individual being part of the fascist movement being suicidal themselves. At least it seems so to me.

I was just kidding. It's a beautifully written paragraph and I like it, I just think sentences like "to furnish the feedstock of my comparisons and analogies and sense the parallel rhythms of microhistory" and "popping back in the foreground of my consciousness" could be expressed in easier ways.

Then again, if your average, non-important, not-in-a-place-of-power fascist was able to understand how life after fascism has taken control would be for them, they probably wouldn't be fascists at all.

Even from a subconscious level, I don't quite see it. I suppose an "i die so you can die too you freaks" is possible, but I don't think it would be common.

That's an interesting way to see it, but I'm not sure I agree. Fascists seem to me inherently narcissistic. Sure, the whole "die for your dream" thing is part of most fascists movements, but if I wrere a fascist my objective would be only to obtain power. Dying in its pursuit? I'd rather avoid that.

Writing a new story. A long time ago I told myself "Dark, never make the orcs as the rapist bad guys, it's too clichè" and yet here I am, making the orcs the rapist bad guys. Hate to perpetuate the stereotype, but goddamit they fit so well for the role.
