The Bullring Llantrisant precided over by a statue of Dr. William Price. A picture of tranquility now but the history of its purpose is anything but that.

Thank you.
I live over the mountain from Treforest. A lot has changed since then, the closure of the mining industry. The hills are greener and the rivers no longer run black with dust.
Thank you Anne.

What was remaining of Boys Village at the time (2023.) A holiday camp for the sons of miners from the South Wales Coalfield. It opened in 1925 to offer 'boys' an escape from the polluted and unhealthy atmosphere of Valleys industrial towns. Abandoned in 1990.

Porth.
This is the opening image in a series about Porth Town centre made between 2018 and 2023. Porth means gate in Welsh and is often referred to as the gateway to the river valleys of the Rhondda Fawr and Rhondda Fach that converge here on the journey downstream to join the Taff in Pontypridd.
Looks like it's on fire.

Journey to my love
It's closed now. In decay, like the memory of warmth from the rain, from the cold. And the drinkers and the talkers and drunks holding on, the laughter, the woe and whisky on the bar. Between a train and a bus. We didn't have a car.
