This cover is a VERY violent shade of pink ๐
but the texture is gorgeous - soft and smooth with embossed letters that feel very satisfying under your fingers

Book cover for Mike Rothschild's 'The Storm is Upon Us: How QAnon Became a Movement, Cult, and Conspiracy Theory of Everything', showing a large red Q against a black background
Book 83 of reading/cataloging my book collection: a fascinating look into how a fringe conspiracy became worryingly influential. Particularly enjoyed the debate on whether QAnon is a cult, and how savethechildren was co-opted by the movement

I seriously adore this particular shade of blue (also, shout-out to Youngcheol Lee's illustrations within the book, they're similarly gorgeous!)

Book cover for Tolkien's translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, and Sir Orfeo, showing an armored, red-bearded man wielding an axe mid-lunge, with a larger green image of the same in the background
Book 82 of rereading/cataloging my book collection - Tolkien's translation of three medieval poems. I'm less accustomed to reading poetry so I took it in quite slowly, but largely enjoyed the lush prose

Book cover for Tamora Pierce's Lady Knight, showing a woman in armor with a sparrow on her shoulder, holding the reins of a brown horse under a starry night sky
Book 81 of rereading/cataloging my book collection - the last book in the Protector of the Small series, and my favorite as well. Kel is a fantastic protagonist, and the life she has built is harsh but beautifully hopeful

Definitely a cover that makes me feel like I'm wandering into a playful storybook!

Behold this beauty. I took AGES to arrange and glue all the tiny books into the perfect spot on the bookshelves - absolutely time well spent

Brilliant! I've been bitten by the booknook bug since getting one from Tonecheer (pretty good too I think, though I have nothing to compare it to), am keen to try more so thank you!

depends on the passion I suppose - if I had a passion for becoming an Olympic figure skater, I think my chances of manifesting that passion are slim given my age and lack of experience! That being said, there are exceptions to nearly every rule, so someone else might be able to.
06.01.2026 11:35 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Book cover for Tamora Pierce's 'Protector of the Small: Squire', showing a young girl with short brown hair holding a small griffin while a sparrow peers at it while perched on the girl's left shoulder and another flies to her right
Book 80 of rereading/cataloging my book collection - while I enjoyed the first two books in the series, Squire is where I started really loving Protector of the Small. Great worldbuilding and coverage of various interesting themes (focusing especially on sexism)

#beautifulbookcoverschallenge prompt: "Book cover that reveals new details the longer you look"
The overall tone of the stories was surreal and mysterious; the book cover reflects that vibe really well

Book cover for Tamora Pierce's 'Page', showing a young girl standing on a cliff's edge, holding a spear in preparation for throwing it downwards, with a dog standing between her legs while sparrows fly around her
Book 79 of rereading/cataloging my book collection - Protector of the Small was one of my favorite book series as a teen, and I still love it lots as an adult. Page's climax felt a tad contrived, but ultimately enjoyed how it fit into the series' themes of sexism and classism

The Gate to Women's Country by Sheri S. Tepper. Post-apocalyptic feminist novel with lots of thought-provoking, occasionally controversial concepts and themes.
I read it ages ago and keep thinking that I should re-read it to see how time and age might have changed my perspective.
#beautifulbookcoverschallenge prompt: "Book you buy/borrow solely because of the cover"
The fox shimmered SO beautifully, I absolutely couldn't resist getting a copy (ended up enjoying the story and characters as well, which was a nice bonus!)

Book cover for Tamora Pierce's 'First Test', showing a short haired girl with a bruised left eye holding a kitten in her left hand while a sparrow sits on her right shoulder and another perches on a bush close to her in the background
Book 78 of rereading/cataloging my book collection - Protector of the Small was one of my favorite book series as a teen, and I still enjoy it lots as an adult. Loved Kel's resolve and integrity, and was very engaged with her struggles against sexism

Book cover for Bram Stoker's Dracula, showing a castle looming above, with an enormous moon in the background and a ominously dark red light illuminating the whole scene
Book 77 of rereading/cataloging my book collection - finally got to this #classic!
Favorite quote: "She makes a very beautiful corpse, sir. Itโs quite a privilege to attend on her. Itโs not too much to say that she will do credit to our establishment!" ๐

Book cover for the Villainess Flips the Script manga, showing a man, woman and young boy in fantasy period dress, looking back at the reader, with flowers in the foreground and a castle in the background
Loved the absurd chaos in the Villainess Flips the Script - it was hilariously fun! Also, really impressed with how the author used cliched tropes to move the plot in interesting directions. Great read, beautifully illustrated

A plain beige and green book cover for Victorian Short Stories: Stories of Courtship. Author: Various. A public domain book
#projectgutenberg read! Appreciated the diversity of the stories. The Parson's Daughter was satisfying - I liked seeing the female lead's POV and Patience's character. Anthony Garstin's Courtship felt promising but unfinished, like a prequel. The others weren't to my taste

To sum it all up - a good book year makes for some lovely storygraph stats ๐๐ Frankly only achievable as I've been on career break; letโs see whether the 2026 job market will keep me on this reading pace!
