Rep. Delia Ramirez to DHS officials: "I have as much respect for you as I do for the last white men who put on masks to terrorize communities of color. I have no respect for the inheritors of the Klanhood and the slave patrol. Those activities were criminal and so are yours."

Teargassing children is state-sponsored violence. Full stop. We will not be bullied into compliance or betraying our values. Oregon is strong. Oregon is peaceful.

If you’re still working for ICE, resign. There’s no honor in contributing to this barbarity.

I’ve been paused on a project for 18 months now, but every day I open it up and maybe only type half a sentence, maybe a paragraph; every step forward is a step forward, even if our shoes are weighed with mud.

THE ALABAMA SOLUTION is a good reminder that our government is treating immigrants in these camps by the same methods that have been β€˜perfected’ in the prison industrial complex here at home for decades. The fight for abolition can and must be fought on all fronts.

…why would they agree to follow any law or abide by any standards whatsoever when clearly there are no consequences when they choose NOT to follow said laws or adhere to said standards? You are not equal to this moment and should resign as minority leader of the senate.

A FEVER IN THE HEARTLAND audiobook by Timothy Egan, read by the author

The more everything changes, the more it stays the same. ICE is just the klan in new packaging, and DC Stephenson is a very recognizable and despicable character.

If your book is over 25% ch*tgpt generated, your name is removed from the cover and you make zero money from it.

I think authors should be required to have a bibliography in their books if they use ch*tgpt or other generative AI to help them write. There should be a section of annotations at the end of the book explicitly stating which sections were generated by the non-human program.

We’re finally watching TRUE DETECTIVE, s4, and there’s not much I’ve enjoyed of it beyond Kali Reis, but the idea of being able to strip off one’s clothes and walk out into the perpetual night with the understanding that the elements are going to kill you fairly quickly is highly attractive.

Went to the Wyden-Bynum town hall this morning, and was impressed by the questions from the community and the responses from the congresswoman and the senator. I hadn’t known much about Bynum beforeβ€”she’s not my representativeβ€”but I was VERY impressed by her.

This was the most detailed bibliographed collection of poetry I’ve yet encountered. Deeply appreciate the further reading list. Some of these poems made me unbearably sad.

This whamby-pambys have got to go. We need democratic leadership with a goddamn backbone, or the party can move out of the way entirely.
