Todayโs AREA CUP was amazing. Quick shoutout to Utopia for an incredible tournament run. Their story goes back to AREA CUP #17, where the same roster and comp made finals but fell shortโฆ and now seeing them here again truly touched me. Huge respect.

It's been a while, but we're back and better than ever with a brand new episode of The Weekly Ink to bring in the new year! In addition to the first events of 2026, we break down all of the chaos that happened in December, from the NA League to SuperJump and more!

I havenโt booked my flights yet, so I can be a bit flexible with my stay on the West Coast. If I can afford it, Iโd love to go!

18.01.2026 07:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Iโll be on the West Coast (around LA or San Diego) from 3/5 to 3/7 (maybe 3/8), and Iโll mostly be in Detroit in late February. Sorry if youโve already mentioned LAN events before, but if thereโs a website or portal where I can look them up, thatโd be awesome!

With four tournaments left in the Race to Crown, Momo is close to securing his spot, but the remaining tickets are still wide open. Riukun has been eliminated in the qualifiers in the last two events, and Todo currently sits in 6th. Who do you think will be the players to qualify?

After the massive nerfs to vSplash, it takes much more skill to win with it, but itโs still brutally strong.
11.01.2026 06:31 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That's one of the reasons, yes.
11.01.2026 06:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Taking this into account, I place cJr in B tier. Apologies for the long reply.
11.01.2026 06:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In the current meta, shooter weapons are less common, and some comps lack reliable ways to shoot down Torpedoes. Since Jr weapons are picked with the understanding that their combat power is low, sustained fighting is not expected from them in the same way it is from Reeflux.
11.01.2026 06:25 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0On the other hand, cJr excels with overwhelming zone painting, high mobility, and a playstyle centered around constant Torpedo pressure, which can be especially effective against certain comps and maps.
11.01.2026 06:25 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Overall, Deco offers higher expected performance for Reeflux players. Notably, tkf, who achieved back-to-back championships using bows, chose Deco as a secondary pick, which is why I place it one tier higher at B tier compared to other Reeflux kits.
11.01.2026 06:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0While Milk has Torpedo and Booyah Bomb, it is harder to sustain fights compared to Deco, which has Wall. I also believe there is a large gap between the skill required and the performance Milk can deliver, and it has seen fewer high-placement results.
11.01.2026 06:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In the current Splat Zones meta, Reeflux cannot contribute through painting alone due to the nature of its main weapon. There are many situations where both strong paint control and consistent kill power are required. Reeflux has two options in Zones: Deco and Milk.
11.01.2026 06:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Norishio is the only one consistently getting results with it. In the current meta, I wouldโve put it in B tier, but heโs keeping Stamper in A.
11.01.2026 06:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I'm really glad you found this accurate. That means a lot to me!
11.01.2026 06:00 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0vDapple plays an important role in this comp, no doubt. It meets all the key requirements of a Cooler provider: insane killing power, jump destinations via beakons, decent paint from its main weapon, and a Cooler rotation of just 170p ๐ WHAT?
10.01.2026 19:24 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I made a tier list (Zones only) based on AREA CUP results in version 10.1.0. Weapons with consistent results, strong impact, and top placements by multiple players are placed in higher tiers. Tiers up to A are ordered. D tier consists of weapons Iโve never seen used. Opinions welcome.

I do occasionally see Decav, but teams using it rarely finish at the top (not counting Norishioโs Stamper). Up to now, only Todo and Yocchan have managed top results with Decav. I believe Decav is not a weapon that can produce consistent results.
10.01.2026 17:28 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank you! ๐
10.01.2026 17:20 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I forgot to add a sentence before this one.
"The biggest threat this comp poses is its high-frequency Ink Vac rotation."
Bow can apply pressure over walls, whereas Pencil cannot. I havenโt really seen a Pencil + 96 comp yet, so I canโt make a direct comparison, but I believe Bow is the perfect partner for 96.
This might be a shallow analysis, but I found it interesting. Thank you for reading to the end.
