Name: Lexi Moser - Title: Viscarity - Medium: oil on dibond, aluminum, video projection - Statement: I began communicating with crayon drawings before I learned how to string words together - strange shapes and spliced objects. Subsequently, I consider art my first language. I have always relied on it to process my thoughts and emotions, and this has remained an essential constant in my life as words continue to fail me. My soup-brain has many quirks, conflating the world around me in bizarre ways. The flow of time tends to escape me. The study of prehistory is often presented as immutable. Functionally though, much of it is predicated on educated assumptions. We clarify and recontextualize through emerging perspectives and discoveries - never sure of how close we are to an absolute truth. My work addresses the nebulous condition of the past through distorted and overlapping forms to make sense of an incomplete reality. Nothing is more compelling to me than the raw veracity of a fossil
