I just learned that Common Law Liberalism is now available as an audiobook. The best part is that I am not the reader. Gain wisdom while driving or running.

I would love to see critics start referring to him as β€œLittle Boots.” This would be great because at first he would not understand it, and when someone explained it to him, he would be irritated.

The proper comparison is to the Roman emperors who acted on their whims and had a compliant Senate and administrative state to enable them. It seems clear that Trump thinks of the military as his Praetorian Guard.

Critics of President Trump frequently compare him to contemporary authoritarians such as Viktor Orban, Recep Erdoğan, or Putin. This is inappropriate. Orban, Erdoğan, and Putin are rational and act intentionally.

My new book, Questioning the Assumptions of Political Discourse, has been published just in time for the fall semester. This book is a good reader for a political philosophy course. For those who want to try it out, I attach a flyer for a 25% discount.

I recall an illustration of deconstruction from the 1990s as the assertion that Hamlet could be understood either as a play about revenge or as an instruction manual for sword fighting. That came to mind when I realized that the Trump administration regarded 1984 as an instruction manual.

Mike Munger published a review of Common Law Liberalism in the Journal of Value Inquiry. I think that it is a good review, but according to the abstract he supplied, it is an epic.

I have encountered many analogies for what the upcoming Trump administration will be like. Today, for no apparent reason, the thought occurred to me that we are about to spend four years living in the Bill Mummy Twilight Zone episode, "It’s a Good Life."
