When you bring an image with an alpha channel into Blender the default import settings should usually just set up the material for you. Have you gone into the shader editor and made sure your alpha channel is hooked up correctly?

Outer Wilds is unquestionably the greatest video game ever made IMO. But the thing that makes it so great also means you can only ever really experience it once so until we can wipe our brains of memories, my other favourite game has to be Deep Rock Galactic!
