I'm certain I'm not the first person to do this to the Nirvana logo; I think Avery would definitely have a torn-jeans grunge phase.

Project Ambersand is a platformer engine, meant to have a 16-bit feel and lots of modularity. I won't get into details yet, but I'd like to know what features people might want or expect something like that to have in order to be interested enough to create stages or custom objects for it.

I'm notoriously bad at calling attention to myself, though, and asking for help has always been hard. I'm not sure how real an engine has to be to get people interested in making stuff for it, or what milestones to show off. So, while I'm still fully intent on writing this thing, I want to know.

Most of my projects are engines. I like opening up possibilities and making stuff that can be added to. Where I always fall short is filling them with content. Imagine trying to write a web browser if there were no web to browse - it would be pointless.

I've had a new project in mind for a while now, and I need to talk about it here, because I feel like I haven't been very clear in the past about what drives me and what kinds of things I want to make real. So let's talk about why and where past projects broke down.

What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders?

Things break _constantly_. There is always something on fire. There is also always a group of engineers who haven't gotten enough sleep trying frantically to fix it. Most things stay not-broken long enough that most people don't notice.

I'm not posting stuff like that just because it's a shocking figure. It's because I want to build whatever the next thing is. Human-focused, pluralistic, expressive, friendly, eccentric, comfortably obscure. The Toki Pona to the Web's English.
