like i always felt trapped by the idea that id lose some sort of online momentum for my art if i stopped making as much and refocused on the rest of my life but now ive realized i dont really like online attention or making art for money anyway

i think finally deciding that i dont want to make money from art on the internet is starting to free me from feeling like i need to spend my time learning how to do that instead of going back to school

a different coworker is telling me HCI (human-computer interaction) could also be a good masters program for me if i wanted to get into UI/UX design... i think i genuinely will start applying to better-paying uni jobs and look into masters programa

my coworkers always gas me up when i talk about stuff i like and say that this uni is good for pursuing niche literary/historical topics, and their optimism is probably unfounded, but it is refreshing lmao

im constantly talking to a coworker in library science and he's always telling me i should do a masters in library science and stay in the university job system so the uni can pay me to research marginalized expression in horror, and im like...... what if

there's a style i like to call "fantasy daddy dom" that's like, tacticool with awkward cutouts or vacuum sealing, and it's trying so hard to be masculine that people accidentally make their twinks/otters look homophobic when they draw them in it

i honestly think that sometimes people who mostly draw masculine characters draw really ugly fashion when they try to fetishize men, bc frankly most women's cuts are more sensual

it's really hard for me to sleep without a pillow pet because just under the head is an optimal arm spot that a regular pillow lacks, so i sleep throttling those things all night

describing kinks in text makes them unsexy to me unless they're in the context of a story where they're being played out by specific characters. but like, /i/ don't want to be the recipient of the kink idea

i dont expect everyone to be an activist, but when people are like "why aren't my followers supporting me" it's like, well, because your followers are poorer than ever w no safety nets, social media is increasingly alt right, tariffs and porn bans.... posting better is not enough to offset right now

like, i used to make money entirely off the internet, and i am distraught that i can't anymore, but it's alienating to see people who rely on the internet shadowboxing twitter and algorithms, trying to offer entirely online solutions to real world problems of labor and hostile govt policies

i think a lot of online artists right think "if i post Harder and Better, i'll get pre-tr*mp reelection attention on my art" but it's just not a matter of individual online users, we are in political crisis made worse by social media, there is no posting our way out of it

no one will ever agree on the "etiquette" of annoying but largely inconsequential online behavior, and you will just go mad and eventually get overly defensive of IP law like the people who oppose the internet archive if you look up everything relative to your work w/out letting things go

corporations and people making big money off of your work is an issue because capitalism favors corporations leeching off of you, but like, somebody with 200 followers making a piece of art inspired by yours is not going to affect you in any way, & being overly litigious eats your time for no reason

more artists need to let it go when some no-name rando copies their art because people have been copying each other for fun since the dawn of time, and it's only the advent of the internet's attention economy that allows everyone to see it. this is not worth a blow out

a lot of online trans people right now are so irony-poisoned that they've swung back around to making fun of trans people who don't fit the gender binary or care about passing, but try to spin this as a type of keyboard activism against ppl they perceive as not suffering enough, and it's exhausting

like, i SHOULDN'T have to have the physical traits of cis men or dress in masculine fashion to be seen as a man if i don't want to; it is a genuinely complex situation to be in where i'd either have to give up looking how i want or give up being treated how i want, and that's, like, sad and hard
