Absolutely not Evangelion but I also highly recommend 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. It's got some of the most inspired and inspiring filmmaking I've seen come out of a Hollywood movie in a while and I've constantly been thinking about it since I saw it opening day.

MGS4 goes out of its way at times to unflinchingly show you how much things have changed about these people and this world. it says with absolute finality that your heroes are gone and the story is over. if nothing else, it feels bold (especially in retrospect) for putting an absolute end on itself.

i have incredibly mixed feelings about MGS4, but the concept of Old Snake and the Shadow Moses section are unlike anything else i've seen in games. your hero is back, and you are watching him slowly die. you visit a familiar place of old victory and glory, and it's now dark and quiet and decrepit

What's so dumb about the Bluepoint closure is their entire shtick was stability. Competently remaking games people love is the exact low-risk, high-reward move that suits should love, and yet they're so stupid that in The Quest For More Money they pulled the floor out from under Bluepoint anyway
