RE: Modeling failures. The TC models did catch up quite swiftly (perhaps next run) after TCG and classification. Perhaps even getting the continued intensification correct into Cuba landfall. A matter of micro vorticity and failure to resolve correctly in the modeling grids for genesis?

ADT has spiked over the past few hours. Kristy is most likely an upper Category 4 now. Might even reach its MPI of around 135 kts prior to any structural changes or EWRC. Definitely cranking and harmlessly moving away from land as nothing more than eye candy for satellite.

Yes, the TC most likely closed off yesterday evening. But based on the remote sensing data available, especially MW, this thing has a very tiny core. It wasn't apparent last night that there was any westerly flow to the low-level cloud deck prior to sunset. Boy, that sure changed at daybreak. lol...

Invest #94L looks like a tropical cyclone. Microwave imagery suggests a formative core and eyewall band developing. A miid-level vortex looks well-defined, and this most likely is closed off at the surface now. Will be interesting to see what the NHC does in the short-term with increasing evidence.

#94L might be trying to close off. The suspect area is a good distance away from San Juan's radar tower, so this is in the mid-levels. Interesting nonetheless. The window for tropical cyclone genesis (TCG) may be closing, however, as shear is in the forecast.

What if we could interactively display full-resolution, 1-second sampled radiosonde data (3-6k vertical levels), interactively plot and compute moist adiabatic and pseudoadiabatic ascent (including ice processes), and do so with a single code base that compiles to binary and web? Would be cool… 👀
