In case it hasn't been clear: whole host of us academics at Warwick are, yes, bemused by the ridiculousness of the "rebranding" but also really quite angry at the potential exorbitant money spent on this (and the denied FOI) when told there must be extreme savings (on staffing) & bigger workloads.

Unfortunately in academia, it’s something you have to get used to quite a lot! But hopefully it’s an opportunity for someone who will be really good

β€˜Student-led’ AHRC PhD places β€˜to fall by at least 60 per cent’ Internal modelling released under Freedom of InformationΒ enquiry reveals extent of PhD scholarship cuts, with academics fearing impact could be greater still

'The number of student-initiated PhD scholarships funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) is set to fall by 60 per cent when new doctoral training arrangements come into effect next year, new figures show.' 1/3

This doesn't affect some of us as we never had AHRC-funded students in the first place at our institutions, but this cut is emblematic of the instrumentalisation and threat to Humanities research across the country.
