Artists are getting the praise because they achieved something personally. It’s not *just* that some work of art looks cool, but it’s the fact that *YOU did this* and we are sharing the happiness of your accomplishment.

A note to fledgling artists; don't think you need gadgets from the get-go. Equipment like pen displays are not required. They don't level up your art game any faster than cheap paper, pencils, pens or goddamn crayons. Leave the pricey gear until you're sure it'll pay itself off.

what success in comics boils down to is this: people want to make comics without being financially crushed by it, and to make a reasonable living from it.

Also drawing fat people is fun. Fat people are so beautiful. The curves and arcs and folds are so elegant and delightful to draw. The form is full and almost musical. Every time I get to draw a fat person its such a pleasure!

If you learn to do it you will see what I mean!
