My representative, Emanuel Cleaver, is 3 years OLDER than Jerry Nadler πŸ‘€

β€œWatching the Biden thing really said something about the necessity for generational change in the party, and I think I want to respect that…[a younger successor] β€œcan maybe do better, can maybe help us more.”

I know this is a hot take for a Kansas Citian, but…Taylor could do so much better than that guy

Literally had the thought today that the best new AG we could hope for in Missouri would probably be Catherine Hanaway. Granted, improving on Andrew Bailey is a VERY low bar, but Hanaway is an uncharacteristically normal Republican, so while I won’t always agree with her, I’m cautiously optimistic.

Interesting that this graphic shows Cleaver, who didn’t even bother to show up last night for a meeting about saving his own district. @herreraformissouri.bsky.social was there, because he shows up for the people of #MO5!

Trump is also saying that the once the US has rounded up individuals, with minimal or zero due process, on whatever pretext they choose, they can send them out of the US to face torture, death, life imprisonment, slave labor or other fates that are unconstitutional or illegal in the US.

Republicans in Congress can join Democrats right now to turn off the bogus emergency Trump has declared to impose worldwide tariffs.

Or they can continue to bend the knee to Trump.

NEWS: More than 500 law firms sign on to an amicus brief in support of Perkins Coie amid the firm’s legal battle against Trump’s executive order targeting its business.

The government’s statement is a flex, not a confession of error. The important elements of the flex are these:

1. We send enemies to brutal foreign labor camps.
2. We decide who enemies are.
3. We may decide you are an enemy based on a secret informant, or our view of your tattoos.

The β€œmethods for doing so” are (1) getting two thirds of Congress and three fourths of the states to repeal the 22nd Amendment and (2) declaring himself king.

That’s it.

Stop treating this despotic bullshit as if it’s some worthwhile thought experiment we have to consider as legitimate.

By this reasoning, the instant someone is accused of murder, we can do what we want to them because the murder victim didn't have due process. Or if someone is accused of theft, because the victim didn't get due process.

This is beyond just wrong. It's evil.

I hope people realize that Trump is trying to make it illegal to criticize his regime.

They are trying to give themselves the ability to spy on, target, and arrest anyone who criticizes them. They want to end freedom of speech in America.

Let’s be clear about what they’re doing.

In fact, a White House official said on Friday that despite the deal reached with Paul Weiss, Mr. Trump would continue to target law firms with executive orders, including some the president could sign as early as next week.
In the Oval Office on Friday, Mr. Trump asserted that law firms "did bad things" and had attacked him "ruthlessly, violently, illegally." But now, he said, they "want to make deals."

Do you get it yet, law firms?

What’s happening isn’t an isolated threat to Paul Weiss or Covington or Perkins Coie.

It’s an existential threat to the independence of the legal profession.

You’re a fool if you think you won’t be next.

Say something. Do something.

Rubio’s position seems to be:

- We get to say who is a terrorist. Our decision is final. It can’t be challenged. Just trust us.
- Once we decide you are a terrorist, we can immediately deport you. No judges.
- After we deport you, we can make you rot in a foreign prison. No criminal charges needed.
