We had our house completely re-wired. The pile of redundant cloth wrapped wire and glass fuses was impressive. Plumbing is on the list, because I just know it’s a mess.

Two state senate seats and one in the state house in MS, breaking the Republican supermajority. It’s not flipping the whole state, but I’m pretty pleased with it.

Dressed to the nines with a fresh manicure and root touch up, walking on stage with fireworks. Meanwhile Sharon Osbourne still hadn’t emerged from her house. I know people grieve differently, but, like, damn.

I wish them all many more bad nights. And worse ones.

Maybe whatever ketchup was when they made it was good, but we messed it up by making it tomato sugar paste.

I’m pretty chill about language changing 99% of the time. Until someone corrects me for using the older construction of a word or phrase. No, I will continue to say β€œset foot” not β€œstep foot,” and other older phrasing, because I am old, and I have earned it.

Eh. You don’t have to mourn everyone, but the exercise of extending sympathy is good for you. I think it’s okay to have feelings both of being sorry Liz Cheney has lost a father she no doubt had a complicated relationship with and also a dose of β€œfuck that guy, though.” Joe’s just too polite to say.

I think I once pretended I hadn’t seen a movie I absolutely had seen to get a date with someone who was excited about seeing it. That would be the normal kind of white lie, I think. Not your whole career.

Every adult person should be able to do with their own body whatever makes them happy, and a lot of us need to learn how to keep our opinions to ourselves.

This looks great. Solar power collection, and you get a shady parking spot as a bonus? Win win!

Memo says you can’t offer discounts to β€œSNAP paying customers.” If they don’t have the benefits disbursed to them, they’re not *paying* with SNAP. They’re just showing you a card… I’m just sayin.

I actually don’t think it is dead. I think we’re being heavily systems tested and a lot is going to depend on what we do after he’s gone. Right now could be the beginning of the end, but it could also be rock bottom that we build something better on.

There’s a theology scholar who compiled all the descriptions that apply to Trump, and while I’m not a big Revelation believer, it’s spooky.

It would help if they invested in *any* organizing in red states at any time.

Even if he did (he didn’t) play a record amount of golf, I don’t really care. He still did a better job than Current Occupant.

It got displaced from the timeline. It’s perpetually two weeks in the future. The next Avengers movie will be the quest to retrieve the Republican healthcare plan from the very near but constantly moving future.

Money is the best donation if you have the ability to give it. (Anything at all will still be appreciated!) A lot of times, they’ll have tax exempt status and be able to get bulk deals, so money is really the best thing to give.

Happy birthday and congratulations on reaching your 30s! It’s a transformative decade. Everyone I know who’s lived it has found it to be the time when you become most who you are. (40s are pretty great so far too.) I think you’re going to have a great time.

That’s how I’ve gotten my last few phones in the US as well. There’s no interest on the installments, so it costs the same, but I can wedge it into my budget easier.

You just about can’t apply for a job without internet access. And no, the library won’t do, because they’re going to want to email and text you too.

I don’t love the shade of green, but I like the midcentury vibe.

β€œHorrified” by a perfectly serviceable vintage bathroom. I wonder if she has any idea how many of us use a bathroom exactly like that every day.

And people who have gotten citizenship and then fallen on hard times. It can happen to anyone.

I actually don’t think many people would voluntarily choose that. It’s human nature to want to be helpful in some way. That’s part of why disability and unemployment suck so much. It’s depressing to feel like you can’t contribute.

On a more benign, but hilarious note: I googled Vietnamese restaurants, and it suggested I could find Vietnamese restaurants by using a web search like Google. Surely I wouldn’t have thought of that on my own. 🫠

That’s one of the problems with all of these models. They have pattern recognition, but they don’t have reading comprehension. It may be answering a question you’re not asking, like a swimming pool and not your soup.

That part. I don’t think anyone is defending ACA as the best possible health care policy we could have, but it’s slightly better than what we had before it. I’d like to go forward, not back.

The people working a job that brings in a quarter million are closer to those of us making the national average than they are to the rich the above comment was referring to. It’s difficult to even conceive of the amounts of money they have. And Trump is good for them, not us.
